Ok before we get into this week’s issue, I will chime and say this is the final boarding call for our Eden event at Bonnie’s tomorrow night. Relieve yourself from the FOMO of never trying the char sui McRib, the cacio e pepe, or the fried dough sundae with pork floss. We still have a good amount of tickets left! RSVP HERE! Okay back to regular scheduled programming
Happy Tuesday and welcome to edition #4 of In the Garden. I feel like we’re finally in the swing of fall things. By that I mean I’m starting to lean into warm soups, spending nights in binging 90s fall flicks, and romanticizing the fall foliage adorned in my cardigans and scarves.
By swinging into fall, we are swinging into exciting events here at The Eden Place. I’m incredibly honoured to announce our newest initiative: Meet the Baker by The Eden Place. When I asked people what types of Eden events they wanted, a lot of peeps requesting a breakfast-timed event. So we’re dedicating this one to all the early birds and people who consider 10am to be peak productive hours.
As people develop a closer relationship to food through Eden, I think it is paramount to know the people behind the farms, markets, bakeries, and restaurants that people consider places to fall in love with food. With this series, we hope to give people the chance to connect with each other and also learn the intricacies of building exceptional business.
For our first Meet the Baker event, I’m beyond thrilled to announce that we will be chatting with Ashley and Gautier Coiffard, the inimitable couple behind L’Appartment4F. This bakery started as a home project to save up for their wedding and it has now blossomed into a mainstay bakery that has transformed a formerly sleepy Brooklyn Heights block. They are serving classic fare akin to a local Parisian boulangerie but have also added some unique items like their always sold out raspberry almond croissant and their exquisite croissant cereal.
Ashley and Gautier have become dear friends in the last year and I’ve admired their humility, kindness, and deep passion in building this bakery. On any day, you can either catch Ashley jovially, filling the bakery with fresh bouquets or chatting up the neighbours in line while Gautier is precisely measuring croissants or making deliveries on his sleek bike. It’s really giving the air of a cool French dude biking along the Seine.
This Sunday September 25th at 11:30, come get a chance to finally meet Ashley and Gautier with their hands not in croissant dough but in a conversation about their story of L’Appartment4F. There will be croissants, coffee, and also a chance to meet other awesome people eager to hear about the in and outs of building Brooklyn’s most popular bakery.
Tickets and RSVP information available here!
Hope to see you there and can’t wait to share croissants with you!
A bientôt!
